Washington Gas promotes healthier, safer, more energy efficient homes by working with Community Housing Partners (CHP) Energy Solutions to provide energy audits, health and safety inspections and energy performance upgrades to qualifying Washington Gas customers. These improvements can help lower energy cost, improve energy efficiency, and provide a more comfortable living space.

The Washington Gas Income Qualifying Energy Efficiency Program provides no-cost products and professional installation services for homeowners or renters living at multifamily properties or in single-family homes with gas space and/or water heating equipment. Products and services may include:

  • Energy Efficiency and Health & Safety Home Audit
  • Water Heater Tank Insulation
  • Water Pipe Insulation
  • Low-Flow Showerheads
  • Bathroom & Kitchen Faucet Aerators
  • Air Sealing
  • Duct Sealing
  • Attic Insulation
  • Furnace Clean & Tune
  • Carbon Monoxide detector
  • Energy Efficiency Recommendations and Educational Materials

Eligibility Requirements

Must be an existing Washington Gas residential customer living in the following Virginia counties and/or cities:

  • Counties: Arlington, Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Stafford
  • Cities: Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Manassas, Manassas Park

Household income does not exceed 80% of Northern Virginia area median income, as listed in the table below based on number of people in the household.

Community Housing Partners (CHP) Energy Solutions works directly with property managers, owners, and executives to bring services to homeowners and renters. Applications are accepted from rental property owners. CHP Energy Solutions serves many multi-family buildings in the Virginia Washington Gas territory.

CHP Energy Solutions promotes healthier, safer and more energy efficient environments by providing no-cost energy audits, health and safety inspections and energy performance upgrades to qualifying multifamily properties. These improvements help lower energy cost, improve energy efficiency and can provide health and safety benefits to the home.

Additional benefits may include:

  • Upgrades to units at no-cost
  • Increased resident retention
  • Fewer/minimized service contracts
  • Fewer service calls & work orders
  • Decrease to operating expenses

 

Eligibility Requirements

Must be an existing Washington Gas residential customer living in the following Virginia counties and/or cities:

  • Counties: Arlington, Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Stafford
  • Cities: Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Manassas, Manassas Park

 

CHP will identify participants as being categorically eligible if participants meet one or more of the following:

  • Any HUD means-tested program
  • Virginia Department of Housing & Community Development’s (DHCD) Weatherization Assistance Program
  • Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) Energy Assistance Programs
  • Dominion Energy Virginia’s EnergyShare Weatherization Services Program – the electric utility’s income-qualifying weatherization program
  • Washington Area Fuel Fund

 

Multifamily property is eligible if participants meet one or more of the following:

  • Property meets any categorical eligibility criteria
  • Property is owned by a community development corporation
  • Property receives affordable housing tax credits
  • Property consists of building units where a minimum of 66% of dwelling units in the building are occupied by a family unit meeting the individual household eligibility criteria.
