Get $30 by Joining Our Smart Energy Rewards Program

When winter temperatures drop, demand for natural gas increases and can cause a strain on the natural gas delivery system. The Smart Energy Rewards program is designed to help reduce natural gas use during times of high demand. Maryland residential customers with a qualifying Wi-Fi connected thermostat for heating can receive a $20 e-gift card for enrolling in the Smart Energy Rewards program. Plus, program participants can get an additional $10 e-gift card each year by staying enrolled.

How It Works

From December 1 through March 31, Washington Gas may occasionally adjust the temperature by no more than 4 degrees on the enrolled thermostat(s) in a customer’s home for less than four hours at a time during periods of peak natural gas demand. This will not occur on weekends and holidays unless there is a rare system emergency. Participants can opt out of peak natural gas events from their mobile device, web browser or on the smart thermostat. The Smart Energy Rewards program ends on March 31, 2023.
